เรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษ: คำบุพบทบอกทิศทาง ใช้อย่างไรให้ถูกต้อง จะได้หายงง!!!

เชื่อว่าใครหลายคนคงเคยเจอปัญหาการใช้คำ Preposition หรือ คำบุพบท ว่ามันมีวิธีการใช้อย่างไร ดังนั้นเรามาดูกันว่าแต่ละคำมีความหมายว่าอย่างไร และควรใช้ในสถานการณ์ไหนได้บ้าง

To: แสดงการเคลื่อนที่ไปในทิศทางที่เฉพาะเจาะจง

ตัวอย่างประโยค: He will travel to New York this summer holiday.

from: ใช้เพื่อแสดงสถานที่ที่มีคนหรือบางสิ่งเริ่มต้น

ตัวอย่างประโยค: What time does the flight from Amsterdam arrive?
across: แสดงการเคลื่อนไหวจากด้านหนึ่งไปอีกฟากหนึ่ง

ตัวอย่างประโยค: The boys swam across the lake.
along: ย้ายหรือมองไปยังจุดสุดท้าย

ตัวอย่างประโยค: We went for a walk along the beach at twilight.
around/round: ไปตามขอบในทิศทางวงกลม

ตัวอย่างประโยค: Her hair whipped around her face in the wind.

into: จากพื้นที่ด้านนอกสู่พื้นที่ด้านใน

ตัวอย่างประโยค: Don’t put new wine into old bottles.
out of: จากพื้นที่ด้านนอกสู่พื้นที่ด้านใน

ตัวอย่างประโยค: If you can’t stand the heat, you should get out of the kitchen.
off: ห่างจาก, ออกจาก

ตัวอย่างประโยค: We get off at the next station.
onto: used to show movement into or on a particular place

ตัวอย่างประโยค:  I slipped as I stepped onto the platform.

over: สูงขึ้นไป

ตัวอย่างประโยค: He jumped over the wall.
through: แสดงการเคลื่อนที่จากด้านใดด้านหนึ่งของพื้นที่ที่ล้อมรอบไปยังอีกด้านหนึ่ง

ตัวอย่างประโยค: David walked slowly through the woods.
toward(s): ในทิศทางหรือใกล้ชิดกับใครบางคนหรือบางสิ่งบางอย่าง

ตัวอย่างประโยค: The cat is creeping silently towards the bird.

up: ระบุการเคลื่อนไหวจากตำแหน่งล่างไปยังตำแหน่งที่สูงกว่า

ตัวอย่างประโยค: She doesn’t like riding her bike up these hills.
down: indicate movement from a higher to a lower position

ตัวอย่างประโยค: It’s easier to run down the hill than go up.
